LAHORE: England’s World Cup winning opening batsman Jason Roy joined defending champions Quetta Gladiators while two-time title holder Islamabad United roped in Proteas’ pace spearhead Dale Steyn.

According to details, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5 draft was held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. All franchises were keen on making the most of this opportunity by assembling the best possible squads.

Australia’s hard-hitting batsman Chris Lynn was picked by Sohail Akhter-led Lahore Qalandars in the platinum round.

On the other hand, Karachi Kings grabbed England’s opener Alex Hales and Pakistan’s returning opener Sharjeel Khan. While Multan Sultans’ top pick of the day was England’s all-rounder Moeen Ali.

Islamabad United were also successful in roping in South Africa’s hard-hitting batsman Colin Ingram while Multan Sultans’ bagged his fellow South African Rilee Rossouw.

Last year runners-up Peshawar Zalmi had retained all their three Platinum picks from last year but did well to strengthen certain key positions by adding the likes of former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik and pacer Rahat Ali to their roster.
